ACTIVITIES IN AOTEA
PEST FREE AOTEA
Pest Free Aotea is a volunteer group has been set up to help reduce introduced pest animal numbers in our suburb, specifically targeting rats, mice, hedgehogs, possums and mustilids (weasels, stoats and ferrets).
We have support from Porirua City Council, DOC, Greater Wellington Regional Council and Predator Free NZ.
We're aligned with Pest Free Porirua and the national Predator Free New Zealand goal that aims to eradicate introduced pests by 2050.
Pest Free Aotea supplies backyard trapping kits for Aotea residents, enabling people in our community to join in this effort by trapping rats and mice at home.

Additionally we have set up traps in reserve areas within Aotea and these traps are checked and maintained by our volunteers.
If you'd like to purchase a backyard trapping kit (a child and pet friendly wooden tunnel that houses a rat and mouse trap), would like to volunteer for reserve trapping, or have any questions then please contact us via email or via our Facebook page:
